Abstract | Carp and tilapia are dominant species in freshwater fish culture in many Asian countries. Majority of carps and tilapias are produced by utilizing natural foods resulting from proper pond fertilization, often supplemented by artificial feeds to enhance fish yield and raise fish to a larger size than is possible with natural foods. Artificial feeds range from farm products such as grass and rice bran to farm-made, formulated feeds and commercial feeds. The choice of artificial feeds depends mainly on the cost and availability of resources to small-scale farmers. |
