Responsibilities: Duties include collection of catch effort and biological data from ocean recreational and commercial troll fisheries through dockside angler interviews and sampling of catches; and upload and reporting of field data on a daily basis to fisheries managers for maintaining in-season quota management goals. Data collection will utilize iPads, electronic forms, and standardized sampling protocols to conduct vessel effort counts, identify and enumerate salmon and other marine fishes, detect coded wire tags in salmon, and collect biological data (lengths, scales, snouts, tissue, etc.). This position also requires regular communication with the public regarding current recreational and commercial marine fisheries state and federal fishing regulations, in-season regulatory actions, and answering other questions in a professional manner as a representative for the agency.
