Acadia Harvest, Inc. (AHI) is hiring a full-time, temporary position for work on a National Science Foundation funded project running through September of 2018, with additional funding pending for work beyond that. This new hire will work with a small team of individuals on an experimental insect pilot plant in Waldoboro, Maine working to use insects as a replacement for traditional ingredients in commercial fish feeds.
Responsibilities:

System maintenance
-
Operation of heavy equipment and machinery such as a forklift

Collection and processing of municipal food waste for insect feed

Insect husbandry, such as observing, feeding, churning, moving, sorting, cleaning, harvesting, and processing flies, eggs, larvae, pre-pupae, and pupae

Fulfillment of other general operations needs
Qualifications:

Some experience with basic construction techniques in carpentry, plumbing, and other trades including applied problem solving

Willingness to train and operate an electric forklift, tractor, and truck with trailer (driver’s license required). Experience is a plus

Strong interpersonal skills and a willingness to contribute to an intensely collaborative team of three individuals

Highly motivated and self-directed work ethic

Self-reliant with a willingness to learn and be self-taught

Ability to lift 50 pounds and be on feet for extended periods of time
