Applications are invited for the post of Shellfish Hatchery Manager based at Tralee Bay Hatchery, Co. Kerry. The Hatchery is looking for a Senior Manager who will head up a team of four shellfish and seaweed hatchery biologists & technicians at a new, innovative and dynamic hatchery in the southwest of Ireland. Tralee Bay Hatchery holds a multi species aquaculture licence and is currently developing its gigas, flat oyster, scallop and seaweed programmes.
Responsibilities:

Scheduling forecasting and resourcing all technical and biological activities

Managing & overseeing all operational, technical and biological activities (staff rostering, operations manuals, equipment upgrades & maintenance, stock management)

Meeting with the Financial Manager on a weekly basis to review budgets and operations

Meeting with staff on a routine basis to co-ordinate activities
-
Overall responsibility for monitoring and reporting on the progress of all hatchery & nursery projects
-
Will assist with researching, writing and preparing research grant proposals and resource development grants.

Liaising with company Directors on the ongoing development of the company’s business strategy
Qualifications:
-
Experience in a shellfish or finfish hatchery is desireable

A third level qualification in Biology, Marine Biology, Agricultural Science or a relevant field

Time management & organisational skills

Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel

Knowledge & understanding of the relevant Regulations and best practises surrounding live bivalve mollusc production with particular reference to the Irish industry
