| Abstract | The modeling of common water bodies to determine aquaculture carrying capacity has been identified as a critical need for countries in Southeast Asia. These countries would like to use models for aquaculture in various bodies of water, but modeling capabilities are currently limited. In addition, there is disagreement about how to balance the needs of farmers with protection of ecosystems. Effective management of carrying capacity will require a regional approach and participation by industry, governments, academia and non-governmental organizations. |
