The College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at Makerere University interviewed AquaFish Innovation Lab staff and partners while in Uganda in January 2017. AquaFish Innovation Lab director, Dr. Hillary Egna, highlighted some of the major accomplishments of AquaFish Innovation Lab-funded research to increase nutrition and incomes in Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.

Since 2009, Makerere University has collaborated with the AquaFish Innovation Lab on several projects in Uganda. Dr. Joseph Molnar, from Auburn University, and Dr. Theodora Hyuha, Associate Professor at Makerere University, emphasized their work related to water quality, African lungfish, and a cell phone application that makes fish market data more accessible to farmers, among others.
